Christopher Sliter: Mexican Regular Infantry

A return back to my Texas War Of Independence project I briefly started last year I think. I'll be building this for Sharp Practice 2 which I think is the perfect ruleset for this period which is small engagements fighting in a semi skirmish manner.

Since Mexicans are likely to be the more numerous of the two forces I thought I would start fresh with them so I could figure out a plan of action and just get the ball rolling.

For the uniform I went with the winter colors of blue top and white pants instead of the all white summer uniform for the regulars although in the future I may use the summer to denote militia or something different from the regulars.

I painted the cross belts in a slightly brighter shade of white to the pants so they don't blend in. Other then a couple Russian officers this is the only thing I've come close to painting in a Napoleonic type of uniform and it does add a bit more work and the pom pom was a challenge getting the Mexican colors in there.

The figures are from Boot Hill and they really do have a ton of cartoony character that just makes you smile while you paint them and I have to say they are a real joy to paint!

The paints I used were mostly foundry a dash of Vallejo and P3 thrown in the mix. I kept the colors nice and bright to further play up the style of sculpts and the basing I also went for a brighter semi desert ground. The figures are multi based from I believe warbases.

Troops need some leaders so painted up an officer and his sergeant to keep the men focused and moving. I also created some sabots for them so they would stand taller next to the unit and of course helps pick them out as leaders. It also allows me to take them off the sabots and place them in the unit if I don't want to move them separately.

Lots of pictures in this one, but I wanted to show the unit in both line and grouped together in a compact formation. I will be returning to the Texan War, but before that I'll be in the dark woods of Northern America and Canada for more gun smoke adventures.

From Christopher Sliter : Roman leaders, Deployment markers for Infamy!Infamy'

The Romans will need somebody to lead them so I present Centurion Maximus Ivicus(warlord Status III leader) and his supporting optios and attached Capsarius(medic), Musician, and Vexillarius(standard bearer) plus a couple Roman Deployment markers for my growing Infamy!Infamy' collection.

I seriously doubt a Centurion would ever be caught wearing purple as that was usually reserved for the Emperor and his personal guard, but I like to take liberties to enhance a theme and this case to further distinguish him from the other leaders on the table as the man in charge.

As if giving him a purple cloak wasn't enough I mounted him on 60mm base with attached musician and standard to further establish who is running things!

However I still wanted to retain some flexibility with the command base figures to either not include in the force, place inside units or move to separate locations on the table so made my own sabot base by building up the sand around where the bases fit in....perhaps a little messy to do but works in the end.

Next up is a independent Status II leader(Junior Centurion?) with a red cloak and another leader that can either serve as Status I leader or Supra Numerum. They are intended to lead the foot Auxilliary while Maximus leads the Legionaries.

Maximus needs an Optio to keep the men in line while he's leading the force and a medic to take care of the men when they fall and help get them back in the fighting. I'm not sure what the figure drinking from the cup is supposed to be, but I decided he would make a decent looking medic taking a quick sip before getting to work.

Romans are allowed to deploy from Deployment/ Ambush markers if they are Auxiliary troops, cavalry or Allied Barbarians just like the Barbarians lists although only have 2 to the possible Barbarian 6.

Deployment/Ambush markers are probably the most fun things to make for Infamy as you can let your imaginations go a bit and in this case I decided to use some Romans with their Barbarian guides that are helping them navigate the dark forests of Germania.

The figures are mostly A&A, Wargames Foundry and I think Warlord painted using Foundry and Vallejo paints and some Mig pigments that are now called Abteilung 502 pigments I believe.

ChristopherS. AWI British casualty markers

Still here just falling way behind on photographing the things I've completed....well actually falling behind on anything blog related in general.

These markers for the British will cover me for a little while, but I still need to do some more, but until then I have some Hessian ones to do first.

The figures are from the Perry AWI range and the bases are from warbases if I remember correctly. The paints I used are mostly Foundry with some Vallejo.

This was just a quick post to say hi and I hope everyone is holding up well.

From ChristopherS: Adding more Fallschirmjäger

My first submission in the Analogue Hobbies Quaraantine Challenge. Although I'm still busy I wanted to join in on the fun. Still continuing on with my fallschirmjäger to get them up to where I can have options and this is my 3rd squad for this year, but my 4th overall for my fallschirmjäger force.

The figures are mix of mostly Crusader and Artizan, but I did also some Foundry(MG over the back) in this unit as well; , however a small note I think the Foundry molds are getting old as I had to do quite a bit of clean up which is unusual in that most Foundry products I've purchased over the years had very little of that.

I'm very surprised I as able to keep focused long enough to build a force that I could actually field. I'm not finished by any means, but I can play a game and have a couple options now which I'm very pleased about.

The paints I used were once again mostly Vallejo with some Mig pigments for weathering. Painting the figures was once again challenging but a pleasure to do at the same time do to the design at the figures.

I'm not sure what I'll do next as I'm beginning to get a bit jumpy which is usually a sign I'm ready to do something else, but even if I don't do anything right away Fallschirmjäger I'll for sur be back as there are some items I need to add.
