JTinQT Week 12 - Sign Off Post - More Landsknechts

Hi All

Glad just managed to sneak in a last post although time difference nearly caught me out. Thanks to Curt and all for this blog - pleased I managed to post something each week although sometimes just a single figure. Anyway perfect to take my mind off everything and to enjpy so many other others brilliant painting.

My last post is a couple more pike for the second back rank of my French Black Band pike block. Pity I could not complete but will keep pushing on to do this. As before figures are Old Glory.

This next shot has the front base in the background and the figures for the back base, just 4 so far including the new ones for this week. Still you can get the idea of what I will be finishing.

Once again thanks everyone ...... also a thumbs up from my brother Matt in case he misses the cut for a post. Know he is on night shifts this week but he has really enjoyed it as well. We have a few big wargaming clashes to schedule in when we can.

All the best everyone ........... Cheers Jez

JTinQT - Week Seven - Landsknechts

Dear All

Hope everyone is well?

Happy to make more substantive post this week with 12 new figures. After doing some Swiss thought only fair to have a look at my Landsknechts. Using the same mainly Old Glory 28mm painted this front base of pike up as the "Black Band" who fought for the French at Marignano and Pavia. At Pavia they were fighting against the Imperial Landsknechts. As the name suggests the key point is mainly black clothing.

There are a couple of Games Workshop double-handers mixed in, an Artisan I think, and see if you can name the company for the fifer?

The fifer is a figure from the 1980's - QTModels I think, based in Yorkshire. Anyway a key feature was you could mix and match heads - very cutting edge for the 1980's. These figures are based for Basic Impetus wargames rules and need to get on now and finish the back rank base.

Cheers Jez

JTinQT - Week Six - Swiss XBow Skirmisher

Dear All,

Pretty pathetic single figure post again this week. In this years painting challenger I did a Swiss skirmish unit for Basic Impetus. This was a two figure unit base but decided skirmishers look better with three figures so just painted and added another in - luckily it fitted nicely in the middle space so an easy job to add in.

Think this figure is from Wargames Foundry - an old Perry sculpture. Well think all Foundry are old sculpts aren't they? Anyway just a little job out of the way.

Cheers Jez.

From Curt: Siege of Malta, 1565 - Barbary Corsair Spearmen and a Archer Command Stand

Switching tack from the Grim Dark Future to the sun-kissed Middle Sea, I thought I'd finish off a few more figures for my 1565 Malta project which have been sitting half done since the winter Challenge.

Here are half a dozen spearmen to add to Turgut Reis' slowly growing contingent of fierce Barbary corsairs.

These are from Footsore Miniatures' excellent Caliphate range. Similar to my other efforts, I've had fun using a lot of colour with these guys. I may get another pack later to bulk-up the unit, but this group will stand as a good start.

The full unit of spearmen.
I also did up a command stand for one of my corsair archer units which was bereft of one.

The piper and standard bearer are from Brigade Games, while the leader is a Footsore model. I did a small modification to have him holding a crossbow along with a small targe, just to make him a little more distinct from his bow-armed comrades.

The archers with their new leader.
At first I just had the three figures on the base, but for a bit of additional colour, I decided to give them a banner as well (I figure you can't have enough flags on the tabletop).

These 9 models will give me another 45 points, for a grand total of 135.

Thanks for popping in for a visit!

-Curt
