KenR 28mm WW1 Mesopotamia Cavalry test figures
I have been searching for sources of figures for 28mm WW1 Mesopotamia Cavalry for some time, I'm going to do a big blog post on the search soon. One of the suggestions was Irregular Miniatures who I have to say I was completely unaware did a WW1 Range.
So I ordered six figures so I could do a test base of each type of figure. Irregular are pretty old school compared with the much more detailed modern sculpts, I've painted them in my usual way, oils for the horses and acrylic paints with the occasional wash for the figures.
First up Turkish Cavalry, quite "toy soldier" looking but presentable, will probably end up getting some more of these as there really is no other options.
Next up the Indian Cavalry, probably the favourite of the bunch, I have another alternative for Indian Cavalry depending on how successful a 3d printing of ammo pouches go so it's yet to be seen if I expand on these but it's a decent option to have in hand.
Finally there are some British Cavalry, they come from the same range as the Indian Cavalry but have a Colonial style Pith Helmet rather than the Wolesley style more common in Mesopotamia. They do have the 1903 ammo bandolier but look more Boer War to me, so these are in the undecided pile.
So for the Q score that's another 60 points taking me to 1025.

JTinQT - Week 4 - Swiss Pike
Hi All
Happy to get a more substantive post this week, that includes finishing a unit! First up are the figures painted this week. These are mainly Old Glory, but the two on the left are older Irregular Miniatures. The figure without the pike becomes a standard bearer in the finished unit.
Now these were done I could combine with those previously painted and some rebased figures to give the finished new pike block. This represents the third pike block at Marignano 1515 based around the cantons of Lucerne, Basle and Schaffhausen.
The ram flag is from Pete's flags and had to self create a flag for the Lucerne canton using the white cloth material left over from the flag sheet. Luckily Lucerne is a simple two colour banner white/light blue so quite easy to paint and weather in - should I call this a plagiarised Pete's Flag? Anyway pleased with the effect. As always great to base the figures and spend time to create the look of the unit.
Post Covid this unit is going straight into action in a Basic Impetus rules Swiss army to take on Burgundians! Cant wait ..........
Cheers Jez

JTinQT - Week One - Swiss Project
Hi All,
In this Quarantine Challenge I am aiming for a single post per week and just put up whatever I have done. Just two figures painted this week but the start of a project to paint up a third Swiss pike block for Basic Impetus. I need two bases with about 12 figures per base.
I am using Marignano 1515 as my battle theme and here the Swiss were typically organised into the classic three pike blocks. These figures will be for the third block, the troops from the Lucerne, Basle and Schaffhausen cantons. These first two figures are representing Schaffhausen - so have painted in the canton flag colours of black and yellow. I'll finish the basing when I put on the final game stand base and hopefully will get that finished this challenge.
The figures are Foundry flag bearer and an old Irregular Miniatures - I was quite pleased with this figure. Its an old style casting but painted up well. The standard is from Pete's Flag. The final picture is an older photo from this years challenge which gives the style of the finished block I will be looking for.
Hope everyone is keeping well.
Cheers Jez
