Hi All,
As promised I've finished my my first batch of Italian Condotierri. Of the four units I have planned these are the two heavier armoured "first rankers" with the remaining two units to be on less heavily armoured horses. All Perry Miniatures kit this time with a couple of metal commanders in the centre to represent attached generals.
I've yet to purchase banners for these so the look a little less flashy than they will in future but there is still plenty of colour as they stand.
The second batch along with my commander are already undercoated and ready. When those are complete that will finish the initial push for the army and I can move onto the Burgundian Ordonnance I have planned as opposition.
Cheers,
Millsy

From Millsy: More Italian Condotierri
I'm continuing working my way through the my Italian Condottieri for which I posted my initial work previously. This time I have another three units to show - one of skirmishing infantry and a pair of Italian mounted crossbows.
The infantry skirmishers are a mix of venerable metal miniatures which I picked up a long time ago for another project which I never progressed. I've no idea who made them and I suspect there are a few different makes in the mix.
The two units of Italian mounted crossbows are Front Rank Miniatures with a few Perry Miniatures horse swaps and plastic crossbows from my vast bits box. I bought 30+ Mordheim sprues years ago and they are the gift that just keeps giving for upgrades, weapon swaps and other customisations.
I'd be reluctant to mix the Front Rank infantry or riders with Perry Miniatures on the same bases as the former are definitely at the large end of the 28mm scale. They are lovely minis though and I thoroughly enjoyed painting them. At least the horses mix OK as there are limited options from Front Rank.

From Millsy: Italian Condotierri
Having missed the AHPC X I was really keen to jump on board here and make some serious headway on the lead and plastic mountain. Thanks Curt for making this possible mate! Thanks also to everyone who checked in on me over the summer as I worked on the bushfires with my RFS mates.
Its something of an embarrassment for me that despite the fact I did all the layout and design for Simon Miller's wonderful To the Strongest! rules I have only ever played a couple of games and don't own a single complete army I can use to play. This seems like an excellent opportunity to rectify that so here we go with three units for my Italian Condottieri, eerily similar to Simon's own army of the same type...
Firstly, Venetian militia spearmen from the Perry Miniatures Eurpoean Mercenaries box set mixed with parts from the War of the Roses sets. The large round shields (aka rotella) are thumb tacks with the spike removed. They came out well but were a bugger to get the paint to adhere to.
Next up a pair of skirmishing infantry units, handgunners from Florence and Venice once again. Also from the Perry Miniatures Eurpoean Mercenaries box set mixed with parts from the War of the Roses sets.
I've recently taken delivery of yet another(!) big pile of plastic from the brothers Perry so stay tuned for a bunch of mounted knights to flesh out the heavy cavalry for the army.
Stay safe people and keep the wonderful work coming.
Cheers,
Millsy
