Hi.

Hope you are all safe and well. Working from home is a pain in the backside isn't it. Hopefully all has settled down now and the University is in total lockdown (they've changed all the entry codes on the doors) and we have moved to a 4 day week with everybody being forced to take a enforced paid holiday for the next 4 Fridays. It's a tough life in tertiary education.

I've been on a buying spree, nothing else to spend the money on and suppliers are closing up for the lockdown rapidly. So I thought I'd start on one of the purchases that arrived on Wednesday

This is Eve, post apocalyptic sniper from the Bad Squiddo Ghosts of Gaia range. She is a nice figure and painted up easily. 

Cape is cool though. Odd to paint up SciFi figs in camo colours. She is a big 28mm scale figure and will find uses in Necromunder and the such like.

I bought the whole Ghosts of Gaia range and will paint them up when I don't feel like painting 15mm ancients, like tonight. 15mm Thracian light cavalry wasn't cutting it. I have a concern that I may run out of paint brushes.

The Opening of The Analogue Hobbies Quarantine Challenge - From Curt: Loo Roll HazMat Team (20 Points)

Hello Folks! Welcome to the Analogue Hobbies Quarantine Challenge! 

Yes, hot on the heels of the winter Painting Challenge, I offer to you yet another harmless bit of hobby distraction. Indeed, this will be a place to show off what minis you've been working on this spring, hang out with friends, have a few laughs and try to poke a few holes of sunlight through this dystopian fug we've all been forced to weather through. 

Sticking with tradition, I'll kick-off the Challenge with our first submission. 

I'm still undecided if this entry is in very poor taste or ingeniously apropos... No matter, I'll put my head down, brass it out and hope for the best. I present to you a quartet of  special forces operators in badly clashing hazmat gear. 

To my way of thinking, in a perfect world, these would be the guys we'd call in to 'have a chat' with the loo roll hoarders and those tw@ts who refuse to take 20 seconds to wash their hands.

Some may think those backpack canisters hold oxygen, but I think they are just clever toilet paper holders...

These are Ebob sculpts offered through Hasslefree Miniatures. Great minis to paint, with lots of foldy relief and neat details to have fun with. I thought I'd save time using yellow contrast paint, but it all just ended up with me layering them similar to my normal method. This being said, I still enjoy the funky colours you can achieve with these paints, depending on how you mix them and on how you prepare the surface (i.e. use of various shades of grays and whites as an underlay to skew the colour saturation).

I was originally planning to put them on my usual clear bases, but I thought that I had run out of stocks, so I forged ahead without them. As it turns out I had scads of them in another drawer (facepalm), but as it was too close to deadline, I just dashed ahead as is.  

For myself, I'm going to keep a running score of my work using the AHPC system. I'd like to see if I can achieve half of what I normally do during the winter Challenge, so 500 points it is. I also plan on doing a few side challenges as well, but those will be revealed in later posts.

So, these chaps will give me 20 points for my first volley.
