Hello Folks! Welcome to the Analogue Hobbies Quarantine Challenge!
Yes, hot on the heels of the winter Painting Challenge, I offer to you yet another harmless bit of hobby distraction. Indeed, this will be a place to show off what minis you've been working on this spring, hang out with friends, have a few laughs and try to poke a few holes of sunlight through this dystopian fug we've all been forced to weather through.
Sticking with tradition, I'll kick-off the Challenge with our first submission.
I'm still undecided if this entry is in very poor taste or ingeniously apropos... No matter, I'll put my head down, brass it out and hope for the best. I present to you a quartet of special forces operators in badly clashing hazmat gear.

To my way of thinking, in a perfect world, these would be the guys we'd call in to 'have a chat' with the loo roll hoarders and those tw@ts who refuse to take 20 seconds to wash their hands.
Some may think those backpack canisters hold oxygen, but I think they are just clever toilet paper holders... |
These are Ebob sculpts offered through Hasslefree Miniatures. Great minis to paint, with lots of foldy relief and neat details to have fun with. I thought I'd save time using yellow contrast paint, but it all just ended up with me layering them similar to my normal method. This being said, I still enjoy the funky colours you can achieve with these paints, depending on how you mix them and on how you prepare the surface (i.e. use of various shades of grays and whites as an underlay to skew the colour saturation).
I was originally planning to put them on my usual clear bases, but I thought that I had run out of stocks, so I forged ahead without them. As it turns out I had scads of them in another drawer (facepalm), but as it was too close to deadline, I just dashed ahead as is.
So, these chaps will give me 20 points for my first volley.
Thanks for dropping in for a peek!
Curt
Morning Curt, cracking start to the challenge. Stay safe and keep painting

DeleteLove em mate. Good to see you didn't let me down in response to my earlier comment!
ReplyDeleteAlways, happy to oblige, mate. :)
DeleteAnd so we're off! A very suitable first post, Curt. That yellow really sings (though the song I hear is more than a little disturbing). Looking forward to seeing what you conjur up for us.
ReplyDeleteThank you Noel. The figures appealed to my weird sensibilities.
DeleteAnd the starter's flag has dropped. Great set of figures Curt. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Tamsin.
DeleteCan't think of a more appropriate first entry to the QC! I may even find some of these guys in my streets in Madrid one of these days
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope not, Benito. Though I wouldn't mind them in a few of our grocery stores...
DeleteSmashing first post Curt, the clothing on the models is definately on trend 😁
ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks Ken.
DeleteSplendid if slightly ominous first post!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Cheers Iain, I aim to serve :)
DeleteAwesome stuff. Those toilet roll hoarders won't know what hit them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Stuart. Gee, I wonder what the defensive properties of a loo roll is vs high velocity rounds?
DeleteInappropriate or not, I laughed! Genius first entry, smashing yellow colour.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jamie. I weirdly love painting yellow. Maybe I need to work on an Imperial Fists army...
DeleteThese a re awesome Curt. I really like what you did with the face shield.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Easy effect: black background, a dab of chrome and then hit it with semi-opaque model car paint from Tamiya.
DeleteYellow is so hard to get right, but you nailed it! Lovely opening submission there, Curt.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ev!
DeleteSays it all I think. Wonderful work on these Curt and the red visors really worked a treat!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Cheers Christopher!

ReplyDeleteThanks Sander. It's good to be back. In fact it's like I never left... :)
DeleteGreat colours! Treatment with extreme prejudice.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hear hoarding triple-ply roll is a hanging offence.
DeleteI think I saw these guys at Superstore this weekend. Great start and very appropriate.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter!
