From MartinC 15mm Thracians

Working from home is still hectic but I now have the next 4 Friday's off. Today I have been constructive. Finshed off some figures and fought a sol 15mm Kings of War Historcal battle with randomised deployment (which worked very well), which I was going to post but the lighting in my spare bedroom is shocking and the photos were terrible, even by my standards. Being KoW it was incredibly brutal and the Indians ran over Pontus. Will play a less randomised battle tomorrow and tweak some of the stats.
During the evenings I've working through my 15mm ancient purchases and have completed 5 more units light units

2 regiments of light cavalry

The figures are Forged in Battle and are lovely to paint, although I'm having paint brush issues. Ihave loads and they are mainly rubbish

2 regiments of archers, 1 of slingers and a general.

I have 2 units of heavy cavalry to do and the Thracians I have are finished the ones I have. But I need 2 or 3 units of spearmen / Falxmen to complete the force. No plans for a massive Thracian army but they will act as an allied force for someone.

From MartinC Couple of Big Birds

Morning all.

Hope you are all keeping well. Sitting in my lving room listening to my CD collection in sorta alphabetical order. It's Sunday morning so we have Bjork - Debut - on the CD player
Another single figure post this morning, no points scoring, no rush so may as well post things. Every year I try and buy a figure from Kyle at Mr Lees. It is usually spectacularly outside my ability to paint such figures and they have little gaming use, although the gorilla warriors have fought at Hammerhead and adorn the cover of my blog page. But I do like to practise different skills
I bought this figure during the offical challenge with the plan of painting it up and submitting it there. Well I made a start but never completed.

This is Zarola, she will be come comic book type I've never read (bet SimonM knows). She is riding and ostrich and is massive

I encountered 2 specific problems. Whilst I like painting black flesh I find the shading quite tricky and this took a while to work out (obviously my photography skills mask these difficulties. The 2nd problem is that Ostrich colouring is very very individual. This is a very pink one but they shade own to a stone colour. Pink looks an angrier colour, better if you are a fighting ostrich not called Norbert

Ther appear to be 2 straps on the legs but the attach to nothing and as I can't work out if they are straps of sinew they will stay pink for now.

It's a great dynamic post

Told you she was big, this is her next to yesterday's Eve.

Have fun and stay safe

MartinC Eve

Hi.

Hope you are all safe and well. Working from home is a pain in the backside isn't it. Hopefully all has settled down now and the University is in total lockdown (they've changed all the entry codes on the doors) and we have moved to a 4 day week with everybody being forced to take a enforced paid holiday for the next 4 Fridays. It's a tough life in tertiary education.

I've been on a buying spree, nothing else to spend the money on and suppliers are closing up for the lockdown rapidly. So I thought I'd start on one of the purchases that arrived on Wednesday

This is Eve, post apocalyptic sniper from the Bad Squiddo Ghosts of Gaia range. She is a nice figure and painted up easily.

Cape is cool though. Odd to paint up SciFi figs in camo colours. She is a big 28mm scale figure and will find uses in Necromunder and the such like.

I bought the whole Ghosts of Gaia range and will paint them up when I don't feel like painting 15mm ancients, like tonight. 15mm Thracian light cavalry wasn't cutting it. I have a concern that I may run out of paint brushes.

Stay safe and wash your bloody hands you horrible lot, Eve will be watching. See you on the web chat thingy
