As part of my current project to finish various Cold War bits I have here are a couple of British Army of the Rhine Blowpipe teams. In my NBC game they represent platoon-size units. The figures are GHQ and were painted last week. The Landrovers are Heroics and Ros models which I painted in the early 1980s!
Both Landies are 109 LWB Series threes - a standard pickup body on the left and a FFR (fitted for radio) hardtop on the right.
I am always disappointed that blowpipe teams never feature a guy blowing into a long piece of bamboo or cane. However, those look very nice. You done a reversal in the usual H&R figures and GHQ vehicles.
ReplyDeleteNice work. Judging from the information online, the British Army would probably have had more success shooting down planes with actual blowpipes, but the teams do look pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking landrovers and blowpipe teams!

ReplyDeleteYour idea may be a scratch building challenge too far, especially in 6mm!

ReplyDeleteIn fairness the model may be the later Javelin system but since my games are set in the early eighties my Brits will have to suffer on with Blowpipe. And maybe a Rapier battery....

ReplyDeleteThanks. I’m not sure I need both teams but I had the figures and a spare Landrover....
Some more nice additions 👍
ReplyDeleteGreat work Tim. I've always wanted one of those hard-as-nails Landies, but I'm not handy enough to keep one running. ;)

ReplyDeleteI know what you mean - they're very appealing. Mrs G's Mitsubishi Shogun (Pajero) ticks that particular box in my life!
